Wolfram

Intern

May 2019 • Champaign, IL

What I liked

My experience overall was great and I was working with a wonderful team on the release of the Wolfram Function Repository and the daily tasks that came with reviewing the functions submitted. A special highlight was the Wolfram Summer Camp where I was mentoring high-school-aged students doing programming projects in the Wolfram Language.

What I wish was different

There was some suboptimal timing with the way different parts of my internship worked together. There was some miscommunication before the start about what I would be doing.

Advice

Take initiative wherever you can and be proactive in showing your abilities. If you think there is a task that needs to be done and you can do it, tell your manager about it.

Public Relations Intern

May 2018 • Champaign, IL

What I liked

Various intern projects that gave me knowledge on how a marketing campaign works from strategy to execution in a professional environment.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more focus on intern networking and team building. Many interns felt secluded and left out during the program. I felt like I had little connections with the co-workers within my department.

Advice

Come into the internship with a curiosity to try out new things. You can always suggest what to do. You are in control of what you make out of the internship program at Wolfram.
