Communications Internship- National Committee on U.S.-China Relations

Communications Internship

The National Committee is looking for interns interested in an 18 hour per week commitment. The internship offers an exciting opportunity for current students and recent graduates to join a communications team supporting initiatives focused on U.S.-China relations, while working directly on digital content that enhances and informs that evolving relationship. Interns will receive a monthly stipend.

Location: Remote (business hours are from 9 to 5 EDT)

Responsibilities include:

  • Produce promotional content, including social media messaging, video clips, graphics for U.S. and/or Chinese social media platforms, and other digital products as required
  • Utilize design and production platforms to edit and create informative content on U.S.-China relations that supports the Committee’s mission and vision
  • Collaborate on and contribute to video interview series, podcasts, and outreach to public audiences
  • Monitor news items related to U.S.-China relations and global affairs
  • Evaluate and monitor content on U.S. and/or Chinese social media platforms, track audience trends and public sentiment
  • Conduct research into U.S.-China-related themes, topics, or issues such as AI competition, economic relations, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, or diplomacy to support the creation of digital projects

Qualifications:

  • Excellent research, writing, editing, and interpersonal skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Creative thinker and willing to learn
  • Ability to work well and thrive within a team environment
  • Academic background in journalism, digital marketing, communications, or related fields. Chinese studies, international relations, and related fields also considered.
  • Familiarity with U.S.-China relations or Asia-Pacific affairs
  • Active user of major U.S. and/or Chinese social media platforms, such as TikTok/Instagram or Weibo/Douyin.
  • Cultural sensitivity to key political, social, or cultural issues and trends especially in online communities and discourse
  • Video editing and/or graphic design skills
  • Knowledge of basic design software preferred, such as Canva, CapCut, etc.
  • Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese preferred
  • Ability to work 18 hours per week during business hours
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
