Associate Director of Development

About March For Our Lives (MFOL)

March For Our Lives is one of the most iconic youth movements in recent history—founded and led by young people demanding an end to gun violence. As we rebuild and grow, we’re looking for passionate, entrepreneurial team members ready to fuel a bold new chapter for this movement.

Position Overview

March For Our Lives (MFOL) is seeking a strategic, hands-on, and mission-driven fundraiser to serve as our Associate Director of Development—the organization’s lead development staffer responsible for building and executing a comprehensive, multi-channel fundraising program.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, wants to shape something from the ground up, and is fired up by the chance to fund work that challenges the status quo. You’ll lead all aspects of fundraising across individual, major donor, foundation, and corporate giving, with a strong focus on major gifts. You’ll work directly with the Executive Director, collaborate with our Boards of Directors, and play a pivotal role in resourcing youth-led campaigns, culture-shifting programs, and political advocacy.

You’ll also serve as part of the organization’s leadership team, serving as a cross-functional lead and culture carrier for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a comprehensive development plan to meet short- and long-term revenue goals across individual, foundation, and institutional giving, including partnering with MFOL’s Board of Directors and Development Committee to leverage donor opportunities
  • Lead MFOL’s major gifts strategy: research, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of high-net-worth donors and philanthropic partners
  • Write, submit, and track grant proposals and reports—ensuring timely submission, clear alignment with funder priorities, and strong financial narratives
  • Develop compelling donor-facing materials, including impact reports, case statements, one-pagers, and campaign updates
  • Plan and execute donor engagement opportunities, including cultivation events, funder briefings, and strategic follow-up touchpoints in partnership with the Executive Director
  • Partner with digital fundraising vendors managing MFOL’s grassroots fundraising (SMS/email), ensuring alignment with donor messaging, targeting, and revenue goals
  • Partner with operations staff to maintain accurate donor records, gift tracking, and revenue projections using MFOL’s CRM system (e.g., EveryAction); prepare regular development reports
  • Report fundraising progress and KPIs to the Executive Director and both MFOL Foundation (501(c)(3)) and MFOL Action Fund (501(c)(4)) Boards
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and other Associate Directors to align fundraising strategy with program goals, organizational planning, and public messaging

Qualifications

  • Has 3+ years of experience in fundraising, with demonstrated success in major gift solicitation especially in the political and/or advocacy fields
  • Has knowledge of 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and/or political fundraising
  • Brings excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in persuasive donor storytelling
  • Has experience in grassroots/digital fundraising (preferred)
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Comfortable with CRM systems (EveryAction, Salesforce, or equivalent)
  • Ready to work both strategically and tactically—from donor research to thank-you notes
  • Eager to join a rebuilding moment and help lay the foundation for long-term financial sustainability
  • Feels inspired by MFOL’s mission and believes in fundraising as a tool to drive power
