Human Resources Administrative Intern

Position Description

The Human Resources Administrative Intern is responsible for providing HR and Talent Acquisition support to employees and applicants to meet business objectives.  Work a 20- hour, weekly, flexible schedule and provide overall administrative support to Human Resource and Talent Acquisition.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Function as backup administrator of the HR Service Center:
    • Serve as a point of contact for employee assistance and information.
    • Respond to HR Service Center inquiries, including e-mail, face-to-face, and telephone interactions
    • Obtain and provide requested information, or take appropriate action to resolve, refer, or escalate issues in accordance with company and/or HR policies and procedures.
  • Provide overall administrative support to the Human Resources and Talent Acquisition department:
    • Assist Talent Acquisition Specialist with posting jobs, updating and maintaining new hire profiles
    • Responsible for completing and managing employee files after onboarding and maintain all HR and personnel related documentation.
    • Serve as a backup with new hire week including: scheduling, ordering meals, working with each department to ensure everyone is in the loop, gathering materials and paperwork, creating luggage tags. Assist with all new hire week acknowledgements, I-9 photos, Erail photos, I-9 completions
  • Support the HR Director and Talent Acquisition Specialist on projects including open enrollment, performance management and compensation analysis.
  • Obtain & maintain current knowledge of Omaha Track’s employment policies and benefit information.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks appropriately, and follow-up on outstanding items

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Some college courses in Business, Human Resources, or a related field preferred or 1 year of HR/applicable experience
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a superior level of customer service and professionalism
  • Strong planning and organizational skills including demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

 Work Requirements

  • Proficient aptitude with technology including basic computer programs and Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn and become proficient in electronic data filing and web-based programs/systems
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality with sensitive organizational and personnel information
  • Dependable and consistent attendance/punctuality
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment while still completing independent work tasks/assignments
  • Ability to meet all functional requirements including, but not limited to: lifting (up to 30lbs), sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, bending, squatting, finger dexterity, and reaching above/below shoulders
