Student Assistant (Human Resources), Ref # 9121

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a US citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be currently attending a New York State college, university or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State
  • Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year’s worth of academic credits over a more extended period of time may qualify part-time students) OR currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
  • Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or equivalent to a C.

 

Duties Description

The Office of Information Technology Services is seeking a detail-oriented and Student Assistant Intern to support our Human Resources team. This role is ideal for English, Communications, or Human Resources majors who enjoy refining written content, ensuring clarity, and contributing to professional workplace communications.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Proofread and edit Human Resources documents for grammar, tone, and consistency.  
  • Review and standardize Human Resources templates (offer letters and memos) for accuracy and professionalism.  
  • Draft clear and concise internal communications (announcements, newsletters, memos).  
  • Collaborate with Human Resources team members to identify and resolve inconsistencies in documentation.  
  • Support other Human Resources projects as needed. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Major in English, Communications, or a related field.  
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.  
  • Strong command of grammar, style, and business-appropriate tone.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).  
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
