
Sports Betting Freelance Writer
A Freelance Writer for Catena Media North America covers evergreen content and page updates related to gambling and the sports betting industry. This role requires roughly 20-30 hours per week, where the volume and type of content will vary.
While much of the content will be assigned by the Content Lead, the freelance writer may also be tasked with generating content ideas weekly.
Job duties and responsibilities:
- Write and research commercial or sports betting content for Catena Media sites or partners.
- Regularly review and revise existing evergreen pages (e.g., gambling guides, casino reviews, betting strategies) to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Edit and write sports/gambling content for clarity, accuracy, and alignment with brand voice and style guidelines.
- Optimize on-page elements (e.g., titles, meta descriptions, headers) to improve content for search engines.
- Monitor performance metrics (e.g., page rank, revenue data) to refine content for better SEO results.
- Adhere to the sites style guide, follow SEO best practices and other guidance as provided.
- Be receptive and use feedback to improve performance and increase proficiency.
- Work with Digital Content Strategist to support the content strategy.
- Other content duties as assigned by the Digital Content Strategist.
- Assist in drafting or publishing content inside content management systems (CMS) as requested.
- Off-hour or weekend work may be required.
Qualifications:
A Squad Writer must have a minimum of one years of experience working as a journalist, covering various aspects of online gaming throughout the US or equivalent related experience.
Additional qualifications include:
- Pursuing or completed two-year degree in journalism or marketing-related fields.
- Ability to interpret and research gambling and sports betting companies.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Collaborate with others, take complex ideas and break them down into easy-to-understand content.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including knowledge of AP style guidelines.
- Experience in WordPress is preferred but not required
