True Crime Tour Guide

Pay: $20–$25 per hour (depending on experience) plus tips
Schedule: Primarily evenings and weekends, with occasional weekday and premium tours.

Our comfortable, story-driven bus tours visit key historic locations connected to notorious figures like John Dillinger and other infamous events that shaped the city. We combine captivating storytelling with a deep respect for the past to give our guests an unforgettable look into Indy’s most intriguing stories.

Position Summary:

We are looking for an engaging and knowledgeable Bus Tour Guide to lead our passengers through Indianapolis’s most infamous historic locations. You’ll speak to guests on the tour bus via microphone and also at selected stops to bring the city’s true crime stories to life. This is a performance-based role for someone who loves history, has a flair for storytelling, and can command attention in a dynamic group setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver historically accurate and entertaining narratives to guests on board the bus and at designated tour stops.

Engage guests with compelling stories of true crime and Indianapolis history, tailored to various audience types.

Answer questions and interact with passengers in a friendly, professional, and enthusiastic manner.

Collaborate with the driver to manage timing and logistics of each tour.

Ensure guests are comfortable, safe, and having an enjoyable experience throughout the tour.

Assist with logistics of premium tour experiences (e.g., distributing merchandise, coordinating food or drink).

Represent Infamous Indy Tours LLC in a manner that reflects our values, tone, and branding.

Qualifications:

Passion for Indianapolis history—especially true crime.

Previous experience in public speaking, education, performance, or guiding tours strongly preferred.

Strong storytelling and communication skills with a confident stage presence.

Comfortable using a microphone and speaking for extended periods while seated and standing.

Able to think on your feet and adjust to guest questions or unexpected changes.

Reliable, punctual, and organized.

Must be able to board and disembark the bus safely at multiple stops.

Background in history, theater, or museum education is a plus.

CPR/First Aid certification and a clean background check required.

Additional Information:

Training, scripts, and historical materials will be provided.

Tours run in the evening and on weekends, with some special events and premium experiences scheduled monthly.

Tour routes are approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

Branded clothing provided for all guides.

Opportunities for expanded responsibilities and roles as the company grows.
