Major and Planned Giving Officer

Salary:  $85,000 - $90,000 per year

This is a full time position, in person/hybrid position.

Duties

This position is an opportunity to join a group of passionate and creative individuals on Wilder's Advancement Team. The Advancement Team works to attract, engage, and inspire relationships with Wilder in order to generate connections and revenue to maximize Wilder’s ability to be a partner, have impact today, and build a stronger community for generations to come.

The Major and Planned Giving Officer implements and manages a comprehensive major and planned giving program for Wilder. The position is a key member of our donor engagement team and offers guidance to executive staff and other Advancement Team members working with individual donors. The Major and Planned Giving Officer develops and manages an annual plan for major and planned gift-related work that integrates personal touchpoints with standard communications outreach. The position ensures a strategic approach to deepening relationships with major and planned giving donors to Wilder, and works closely with the Director of Development and other Advancement Team members to grow the number of major donors and their levels of contribution. The Major and Planned Giving Officer reports to the Director of Development and is part of the Advancement Team, which also includes institutional grant fundraising, communications, and volunteer engagement.   

Job Qualifications

Bachelors degree and at least 5 years' successful major and planned giving fundraising experience required; additional experience can substitute for degree requirement.  Master's Degree and/or professional certification (e.g. Certified Fund Raising Executive - CFRE) preferred.

This position requires proven track record and demonstrated success in managing and implementing a comprehensive major and planned giving program with an approach dedicated to long-term, individualized relationships. Demonstrated success designing, coordinating, and supporting others to develop and maintain strategies for donor engagement, and raising funds using direct ask strategies. Requires a thorough understanding and working knowledge of all aspects of development and fundraising - annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving. Campaign experience preferred.  

The position also requires demonstrated skills and strength in strategic thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. Must have outstanding interpersonal skills, be a strong, active, and curious listener, and have top-notch verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience in flexibly and effectively engaging and developing relationships with diverse individuals Must have strong initiative and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of the Advancement Team.

Ability to travel within the Twin Cities metro required. Requires computer proficiency including MicroSoft Office Suite, Outlook, and data management systems, including Raiser’s Edge.
