SNAP-Ed Bilingual Nutrition Educator - Brooklyn/Queens, NY

This Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention (SNAP-Ed) Bilingual Nutrition Educator will primarily be responsible for the delivery of established SNAP-Ed public education programming to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among families and individuals encompassing all age groups throughout the Long Island SNAP-Ed Region and Nassau County. This position will be based in the CCE Nassau County office. Travel throughout Brooklyn and Queens on a daily basis will be required. Occasional meetings in Suffolk County will also be required. This position will also include assisting with marketing efforts for SNAP-Ed programming in collaboration with other Nutrition Educators in the SNAP-Ed region.

This is a 0.5-1.0 FTE grant-funded seasonal position. Funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program is through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the Federal Food and Nutrition Services (FNS). May-September 30, 2025

    

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in the field of Nutrition, Health Education or Public Health or equivalent education (GED/High School Diploma and one (1) year transferrable program/functional experience). Working towards Bachelors degree in the field of Nutrition or equivalent also accepted if 2+ years into degree.
  • Nutrition background required.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to have flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
  • Ability to transport/move supplies and equipment, climb stairs with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read and write proficiently) in English.
  • Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read and write proficiently) in Spanish, Bengali and/or Haitian-Creole.  Other languages are welcome to apply.
  • Ability to present effective educational lessons to target audiences and work with diverse audiences of all ages.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer and word processing skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the community in which the work will take place and ability to utilize program resources within the community.

 

POSITION DETAILS:

Salary:            $25 per hour

Schedule:      NONEXEMPT – TEMP: May 16, 2025 – October 1, 2025
