
MHA Administrative Fellow
Position Summary:
Tulane School of Medicine is a fun and innovative work environment with a positive work culture where all contributions are valued. The School encompasses 17 clinical departments, 6 basic science departments, and 41 clinics that are managed by the Tulane University Medical Group, in addition to numerous clinics operated by our Hospital partner, HCA. The MHA Administrative Fellow will gain a broad range of experiences in academic medicine to include clinical operations, strategic healthcare planning and growth initiatives, physician practice administration, data analysis to support management decisions, research, and marketing. The Fellow will build effective health care management skills and the ability to work with administrative leaders, as well as physician and clinical leaders.
Required Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's Degree

Essential Functions:
An incumbent assigned this classification will perform some or all of the following universal essential functions approximately 95% of his/her time:
Function: Clinic Operations & Physician Practice Administration (25% of job)
- Analyze clinical operations and complete process improvement projects
- Research national, regional, and local academic and community healthcare trends
- Review physician wRVU productivity, clinical production benchmarks and identify areas for improvement
- Monitor and report on clinical revenues, expenditures, and activities
Function: Strategic Business Development (25% of job)
- Participate in developing and executing strategic business plans for clinical growth, assessing the needs of the community and the demographics of the patient population through data analytics
- Develop business plans, in conjunction with leadership, surrounding department/school-specific growth initiatives
- Execute plans to develop and nurture internal and external referral sources to grow the enterprise.
- Work to identify areas for improvement and further development of programs
Function: Data Analysis & Research (25% of job)
- Work with leadership to review comparative data and learn how to make informed management decisions based on data
- Participate in monthly operating review of department/school data with Tulane Hospital, to include Hospital and School of Medicine leadership
- Analyze reporting and make suggestions for additional reports that can be developed to analyze and support the organization’s initiatives
- Learn research proposal development, and post-award administration
Function: Marketing (20% of job)
- Work with leadership to develop and implement PR/marketing plans for targeted areas
- Develop social media content to increase brand awareness
- Work with leadership to help create innovation around marketing efforts to drive business to Tulane Doctors
