About the position


 

The Harlem Collective News Summer Internship Program offers HBCU college students across the country a unique virtual opportunity to gain hands-on experience in journalism and media within a 10-week unpaid internship. Interns will work across various broadcasts and departments, contributing to Morning Show & Mood Magazine News' mission of delivering high-quality journalism celebrating the artistic diversity in the African American diaspora.This immersive program not only provides practical skills and insights but also serves as a pipeline for future employment opportunities within the company.


 

Responsibilities

• Assist in various departments within Harlem Collective Media News brands, including reporting, production, and research.

 

• Participate in workshops and speaker series with industry experts.

 

• Engage in networking opportunities and social events.

 

• Contribute to on-the-job learning and mentorship activities.


 

Requirements

• Must be a Junior, Senior, or Master's student by fall 2025.

 

• Availability for a full-time internship (5 days a week, 36-40 hours) for 10 weeks starting in June.

 

• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.


 

Nice-to-haves

• Interest in journalism and media production.

 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

 

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
