Ubicquia offers municipalities, utilities, and broadband service providers and lighting manufacturers a cost-effective and expandable platform for deploying simply connected, simply smart grid, small cell, and smart city services. Our plug and play network has the ability to turn any transformer into a multi-function smart grid sensor that supports a growing list of services that include advanced analytics, EV performance, and power grid performance, including harmonics and fault finding.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for an engineering intern to partner with our technical team of experts in developing his or her skills in the fields of electrical and power engineering for our new cutting-edge product lines.
The successful candidate will show superior initiative, autonomy, and desire to acquire new skills while making a significant contribution to our technical team’s testing, product validation, and certification challenges. The student’s development will occur through project-based assignments. Under the supervision and mentoring of our experienced engineers, the EE intern’s key areas of responsibility will include:
- Assist in the testing, debugging, and failure analysis of our electronic products
- Gaining a thorough understanding of projects/products, design architecture, features, components, costs, etc.
- Analyzing product specifications, end user experience and PCB schematics
- Collaborating with software, hardware and firmware teams, as needed, to resolve issues
- Creating and executing comprehensive test plans
- Ability to carry out assignments and report/present results back to the broader team
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree candidate (at least 2nd year) in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or equivalent related discipline, while maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on 4.0 scale)
- Inclusive individual with excellent communication and organizational awareness
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills is required
- Comfortable in a hands-on setting, debugging, soldering, and working with various lab equipment
- Ability to work with multiple cross-functional teams and project priorities
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, with minimal supervision, such as in a fast-paced development environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience UI/UX Testing
- Experience in a product development / R&D environment
- Knowledge of Power Engineering preferred
- Grid Circuit / System performance experience a plus
