Legal Assistant II – County Court

Position Overview

The Legal Assistant II in the Traffic/Crimes Division of County Court provides secretarial and caseload support for Assistant State Attorneys. This position is available as Full-time or Part-time.  The work schedule for Full-time positions is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Part-time positions require a minimum of 20 hours per week (depending on assigned division). This position offers a Limited Flexible Work Schedule and Teleworking Option.

 

The Job Responsibilities are:

·        Preparing Misdemeanor or Traffic cases for either a Central or Branch division

·        Creating electronic case files

·        Preparing arraignments, trials, reports, and motions for upcoming court hearing cases

·        Processing daily calendars, discoveries, and incoming mail

·       Ordering photos, body worn cam videos, police reports and other supporting                             documentation from agencies

.       Generating subpoenas for upcoming mandatory trial hearings 

·       Completing work requests for the Assistant State Attorneys 

·      Handling numerous incoming and outgoing telephone calls from defense attorneys,              police agencies, victim/witnesses and other outside agencies

.      Coordinating transportation of victims and witnesses for pre-file conferences and trial          hearings

·      Providing back-up support to other Legal Assistants throughout the Division

·     Performing other related duties as assigned

 

 The Minimum Requirements are:

 

·        High School Diploma or its equivalent

·        One (1) year secretarial or clerical experience*

  

The Preferred Qualifications and Skills are:

·        Being fluent in English and Spanish

·        Possess and demonstrate the ability to work independently as well in a group/team                environment

·        Be flexible with their work schedule and able to work additional hours when required

·        Be detailed-oriented

·        Be adaptable to change

·        Work effectively with all levels of staff, outside agencies and the public

 

Starting Annual Salary: $34,824.48

* Note:  Please be advised the starting salary for this position is non-negotiable.
