Athletics Social Media Internship

Athletics Social Media Internship

Reporting to the Director of Athletic Communications and the Assistant Director of Digital Media, the Athletics Social Media intern will, through a courteous, helpful, unbiased and professional manner, will serve as an intern for the Athletic Department. This person’s primary function will be to assist the Assistant Director of Digital Media with Social Media content and other projects as assigned. 

 

Game Day Responsibilities - 85%  

  • Over the course of the semester will be responsible for helping the Assistant Director of Digital Media run the Converse Athletics Social Media Accounts. 
  • During games the intern will be responsible for cutting in-game highlights of the specific sport and posting them on social media. 
  • During games the intern will also be responsible for posting in-game graphics, such as halftime and final score graphics. 

 

Office Hours - 15%

  • During office hours the intern will help contribute to social media ideas and running the athletics Tik Tok account. 
  • The social media intern may be required to attend some athletic practices for social media content. 
  • The social media intern will also learn to make graphics and short social media videos throughout the semester.  

 

Minimum qualifications: 

● Pursuing a bachelor's degree in business, sports management, or communication 

● Minimum 1 year of experience as a work study or student worker in college athletics or professional sports 

● Current Sophomore, Junior or Senior 

● Desire to have a career in college athletics or professional sports 

● Ability to work nights and weekends 

● Strong time management skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment 

● Must include a cover letter, and resume 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

● Basic knowledge of social media platforms and current social media trends; 

● Promotes the mission of the institution to all faculty, staff, students and community at large; 

● Excellent human relations, communication and organization skills;

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 

● Attention to detail and organization skills; 

● Ability to work on a team and in a fast-paced environment; 

● Ability to lift, push and pull up to 25lbs 

● Well-grounded philosophy of honesty, integrity and respect; 

● Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various constituents including both internal to the organization and with the public; ● Ability to work with and engage a diverse group of people;
