This on-site position is in located in our Juneau Headquarters Office, in the State Office -Building, in beautiful downtown Juneau, Alaska.  This position is not eligible for telework.

The Division of Investments with the Department of Commerce Community and Economic Development is recruiting for a Office Assistant 1 (PCN 08-9057).

What you will be doing:

Would you like to provide a direct positive impact on the people and economy of Alaska? Under the guidance of the Customer Service supervisor, you will provide excellent customer service and administrative support for the division.
 
A sample of duties includes, directing incoming calls, mail processing/distribution, cash handling and record maintenance. This position is vital to the success of the Customer Service section and the division.

The division’s various loan programs are intended to promote economic development through direct state lending in industries and areas of the state that are not adequately serviced by the private sector.

Where you will be working:

As this is an on-site position and not eligible for telework, you will be working in our headquarters office located on the 9th floor of the State Office Building in beautiful downtown Juneau. You will enjoy a collaborative atmosphere in a fully resourced and modern office space, with splendid views of Mount Juneau and the Gastineau Channel.

The 9th floor, has a fully equipped and spacious break room, that you will have full access to, as well as easy access to various restaurants and coffee shops.

The Customer Service team is highly cohesive, approachable, and driven by a pride in what we accomplish daily for Alaskans. We look forward to you joining our team!

To be successful in this position a candidate will need the following core competencies:

  • Customer Service: Interacts with recipients of services (internal or external customers) in a way that provides accurate, timely, and effective information and service in a courteous and professional manner;
  • Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail;
  • Communication:   Ability to utilize both verbal and written communication, working on a routine basis with a broad-range of people and personalities.  Working with others as a team and adapting to changing priorities and timelines.  Ability to follow internal guidelines and training to provide quality support for the office and division.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations; and
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D.;

OR

Acceptance in full standing by an accredited college (this includes acceptance in a concurrent enrollment or dual enrollment program);

OR

A Career Readiness Certificate with ACT WorkKeys® scores of skill level 3 or higher in: Graphic Literacy (formerly Locating Information), Applied Math, and Workplace Documents (formerly Reading for Information).

Special Note:

ACT WorkKeys® skill testing and career readiness certification is available at the Department of Labor and Workforce Development's Alaska Job Centers.

"Acceptance in full standing" means acceptance to a post-secondary program by a college or university and does not require enrollment or participation in the program. This includes acceptance in a program offering college credits while in high school, or both high school and college credits, but does not include taking advanced placement courses in high school.

Some positions in this class require the incumbent operate a State vehicle. Such positions require the selected candidate possess a valid driver's license and be 18 years of age or older on or before the first day of employment.

Additional Required Information

If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application.
