Who We Are:
Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. The Psychiatric and rehabilitation Services team (PRS) is seeking a part-time Senior Clinician to join our program. This role supports community reintegration of individuals discharging from psychiatric state hospitals. If this is your passion, then come join our team!
Minimum Education and Experience:
Successful candidate will possess a master’s degree in human services or related field; three years of experience related to assigned program; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) preferred; experience in community-based behavioral health services preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Computer proficiency skills; working knowledge of electronic health record systems. Demonstrated ability to lead others. Working knowledge of Social Security Administration and Department of Social Services' public assistance benefits preferred; working knowledge of auxiliary grants and Medicaid-funded services preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Provides administrative oversight and monitors funds to support individuals in the community post-discharge from state psychiatric facilities;
• Attends treatment team meetings and collaborates with the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and Community Services Board liaisons, and/or other partners to determine funding needs for discharge;
• Tracks expenditures and adjusts funding request;
• Writes clinical narratives to support and demonstrate the need for requested services;
• Coordinates with service providers and monitors ongoing provision of services and funding needs;
• Ensures accurate and timely documentation is inputted in an Electronic Health Record;
• Creates and renews provider agreements with residential providers and completes annual uniform assessment instrument for individuals receiving funds for residential care;
• Represents the Chesterfield Community Services Board at various meetings and presents funding plans and related information; and
• Performs other work as required.
