The Office of Policy and Planning (OPP) promotes public health policy priorities and supports CDPH capabilities for community health improvement, informed policy development, research and analysis, integrated planning, decision intelligence, lean transformation, and grants management. The OPP leads comprehensive assessment, long term strategic and health improvement planning to address current and emerging cross-cutting public health and equity priorities, conducts policy analysis, monitoring and impact evaluation, cultivates partnerships with health systems, academic partners and other sectors; facilitates accountability for effective and efficient public health infrastructure funding, supports organizational capacity building to foster a culture that encourages learning continuous improvement, and empowerment of CDPH staff.

The Graphic Designer I will serve as the OPP Data Brief Design Lead (Design Lead) and will provide expert graphics design skills for the development of Data Briefs and other published reports, documents, white papers, articles and web pages in multiple mediums.
The Design Lead will collaborate with OPP staff and leadership to create diverse, complex, visually effective, graphic design documents and materials in alignment with OPP and CDPH practices and guidelines, including ensuring that published materials are structured and formatted in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, and OPP and CDPH practices.
The Design Lead will provide graphic design support for the development of communications materials such as articles, reports, web pages, and social media content, will serve as liaison with the Office of Communications (COMMS) and will be the subject matter expert on all matters related to COMMS guidelines for submitting OPP communications and materials for internal and external distribution and publication.

Desirable Qualifications

- Proficiency in Design Software including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and web design principles.
- Effectively communicate ideas and messages through visual media with diverse and multidisciplinary team.

- Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external team members.
- Ability to think outside the box and come up with unique and effective solutions.
