About AnswerThis
AnswerThis is an AI-powered research platform built to eliminate the most time-consuming part of academic research: the literature review. We serve researchers globally, from PhD students to academic professionals, helping them go from query to a comprehensive, cited review in minutes.
Our system understands how papers connect, ranks relevance, summarizes insights, and maps citations - removing weeks of manual work. But that’s just the beginning. We’re building a vertically integrated AI research suite that streamlines every stage of academic discovery.
This is a high-velocity, high-impact product environment. If you’ve ever wanted to ship fast, take real ownership, and contribute to technology used by researchers making breakthroughs in medicine, AI, climate, and more this is it.
The Role
We're hiring a full-time Product Engineer who will design, code, and ship high-impact features across the stack. You’ll work directly with the founding team in 1–2 week product sprints and own the outcome of every feature you build.
This role requires strong frontend experience, particularly in Next.js, as well as the ability to work independently across backend services and AI infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
● Design, build, and ship features from scratch across both frontend and backend.
● Create polished user interfaces and seamless user experiences with React/Next.js.
● Build AI-powered tools for search, citation mapping, summarization, and more.
● Develop backend APIs using Python and FastAPI, with database logic in Postgres.
● Work with semantic search, vector databases, and retrieval pipelines for AI features.
● Participate in fast product sprints with rapid feedback and tight iteration loops.
● Take full ownership of your work—from architecture to deployment to performance monitoring.
Requirements
● Frontend: Strong skills in React and Next.js, with a clear eye for UI/UX.
● Backend: Proficient in Python, with hands-on experience using FastAPI in production.
● AI Infrastructure: Familiarity with LLM pipelines, RAG frameworks, and vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Weaviate, Pinecone).
● Databases: Solid experience with Postgres and database design.
● Styling/UI: Experience using Tailwind or similar utility-first CSS frameworks.
● Workflow Tools: Proficient with Git, Docker, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
● Academic context: Understanding of citation networks, research tooling, or academic workflows.
● Able to work in a remote environment aligned to EST hours, with daily standups.
Compensation $2,000–$3,500/month initially, depending on experience and ownership scope. This is a full-time role with significant responsibility and growth potential.
