Marketing/Administration Assistant Intern (Fall 2025) SECOG

Marketing/Administrative Assistant Intern 

The South Eastern Council of Governments (SECOG) is looking for an ambitious college student who wants to gain valuable real-world experience. This is a part-time paid internship/job opportunity. 

Our intern will specialize in: 

• Administrative Tasks: 

   • Greeting the public and answering the phone 

   • Scheduling vehicles and maintenance 

   • Distributing mail 

   • Making bank deposits 

• Marketing Tasks: 

   • Social media 

   • Website development 

   • Developing marketing plans 

   • Video production 

Highlights: 

• Receive input from economic development and finance professionals 

• Provide internal marketing campaigns for three organizations 

• Attend internal meetings • Opportunity to obtain professional experience and build a portfolio 

Job details: 

• $20.00 per hour, 20 hours per week for an indefinite period 

• Position does not include benefits 

Marketing/Administrative Assistant Intern

As a marketing/administrative assistant intern, you will provide administrative support to office professionals and help the SECOG team to plan and implement promotional campaigns for SECOG, the South Eastern Development Foundation and Dakota BUSINESS Finance including developing marketing plans, social media posts, updates to the website, direct marketing, print and broadcast media, etc.

Responsibilities 

• Provide administrative support to a professional team 

• Collaborate with the teams to develop effective marketing strategies 

• Create and distribute content such as blogs, infographics, videos and press releases on social media and traditional news outlets 

• Assist with capturing and analyzing social media metrics 

• Provide strategic recommendations to expand our digital presence 

• Monitor social channels for trending news, ideas, and memes 

• Provide administrative support to teams as needed 

Requirements 

• Marketing or digital communications major 

• Experience with the major social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Pinterest and Snapchat 

• Basic knowledge of social media analytics software including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics and X (formerly Twitter) Analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance
