Autonodyne is a Boston-based software company working to provide additive autonomy to unmanned vehicles in land, sea, and air domains. Our technology stack applies mainly to the defense sector, but we view most of our work as dual use for commercial applications.
The ideal candidate is a systems or test engineer with some background in design, aerospace systems, or software. This role will focus on testing and validating Human Machine Interfaces for next-generation unmanned platforms, ensuring they meet operational, safety, and usability standards. As a contributing member of the systems engineering team, you’ll work across disciplines to evaluate how operators would interact with systems, be ingrained in software teams to evaluate the technical readiness, and be an important member in building safe, intuitive, and mission-ready HMI solutions.
Responsibilities:
· Develop and execute test plans for Human-Machine Interface systems integrated with aerospace platforms.
· Perform V&V aligned with aerospace standards.
· Collaborate closely with systems engineers, software developers, and UX/UI teams to define and refine interface functionality.
· Ensure HMI designs comply with regulations and operational intent.
· Contribute to system integration and acceptance testing using real-time simulation and operational scenarios.
· Create detailed test documentation including procedures, reports, and traceability to systems requirements.
· Interface with end users for feedback and iterative testing cycles.
· Support flight test, as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Human Factors, or related field.
· 3+ years of experience in a HMI Testing, V&V, or systems/software engineering within the aerospace or defense industry.
· Experience in GIT version-control software.
· Familiarity with the Systems Engineering concepts of requirements analysis, system architecture, system integration, verification and validation, and lifecycle management.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with team members, internal leadership, and external stakeholders.
· Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new domains, technologies, and priorities.
· Excellent time management and organization skills.
· US Citizenship required.
· Ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge of scrum and agile software processes.
· Hands-on experience with real-time simulation tools.
· Experience in military or commercial aviation systems.
· Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Travel:
This position will likely involve travel to customer and non-customer sites principally in North America (up to 20%) but global travel is also possible.
Other Criteria:
Security clearance (active or previous) or the ability to be granted one desired.
Salary Range: $110,000 - $180,000 per year
