Description

Engineering Intern

Internship Details:

Duration: 10 weeks

Primary Start Date: May 19, 2025

Alternate Start Dates: May 26 or June 2, 2025 (based on candidate availability)
 

End Date: August 1, 2025

Submitting both a cover letter and resume is required.

 

The intern will support the development, management, and enhancement of Bloomington, IN's right-of-way, assisting staff in various aspects of capital project documentation, infrastructure asset management, and safety protocol development.



 

 

Duties

Essential (primary)


Assist in conducting quality assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of public communication campaigns, traffic detour routes, and construction plans.

Collaborate on the creation of a special report that integrates academic learning with professional development.

Present analytical findings, designs, and developed systems to the Engineering Department staff at the conclusion of the internship.


 

 

Job Requirements

 

 

 

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.

Ability to use Google Workspace programs and applications.

Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to perform arithmetic calculations.


Previous experience in customer service, preferred .

Experience in documentation and record-keeping procedures, preferred.
 

Driver's License, preferred.

Most work is performed in a modern office environment, though field work is required in various weather conditions with exposure to normal hazards associated with traffic and construction projects. Special events might require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

This position requires  the person to be comfortable reaching out to representatives from other local government agencies via phone and email in a professional and courteous manner.. Furthermore requires the ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering Department team members.
