*Internship* Graphic Design

Summary

 

This position is responsible for assisting, creating and executing graphic solutions for the multimedia 
needs of Nevada Public Radio. As a graphic design intern, this position is responsible for assisting 
in the development, monitoring and guiding of the visual tone, quality, and consistency of 
NVPR’s products and visual communication. This position reports to Director of Audience Engagement. 

 

Duties and Essential Job Functions May Include:

 

  • Assist, propose, create and layout graphic elements required for KNPR.org, audience engagement newsletters, NVPR marketing materials, and Desert Companion magazine at the supervision of the Director of Audience Engagement.
  • Review trends in all disciplines of design and provide a contemporary and consistent style in all NVPR/Desert Companion work.
  • Assist in production of press- and digital platform-ready art for a variety of collateral materials including but not limited to advertising, postcards, flyers, banners, posters, media kits, one-sheets, invitations, holiday cards etc.
  • Assist with asset acquisition and production procedures such as photo retouching/enhancing, creating PDF files for the, uploading final artwork to the printer’s server.
  • Assist with the creation, revision, and enhancement of graphic solutions for online NVPR content and electronic communications.
  • Collaborate with Audience Engagement, Editorial, Underwriting, and Development teams.
  • Coordinate/assist workloads with Audience Engagement team members. 
  • Meet all deadlines.

Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual must have proficient knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite design platforms including InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and working knowledge Microsoft Office software.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Must maintain current working knowledge of publishing software.
  • Ability to creatively conceptualize.
  • Ability to communicate through visual methods and forms.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize to meet daily, weekly deadlines.
  • Knowledge of photography and illustration a plus.
  • Degree or college credits in Graphic Design/Media desirable; this may be exchanged for work experience.

 

Compensation

$16.00 per hour; part-time, temporary internship, non-exempt position.

  • Expected hours – up to 20 hours per week.

 

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand,walk, bend, type, reach,see and sit for up to (10) hours

 

FLSA Classification – Non-exempt; temporary, part-time, hourly
