Pollinator Conservation and Outreach Intern

The individual appointed to this position will generally possess a background in environmental science, an understanding of the role and importance of pollinators, and a passion for the preservation and conservation of natural resources.

Requirements:

 Must have completed 2 years of college courses and have reliable transportation. 

Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  1. Conduct a flora and fauna inventory survey: including native plants and pollinators
  2. Assist and execute environmental lesson plans (focus on pollinators) appropriate for students in grades K-12 and aligned with NYS curricular guidelines.
  3. Assist with adapting lesson plans for adult groups and/or audiences with special needs.
  4. Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing festivals, fundraisers, programs, and other events.
  5. Submit articles for The Marshlander, the GSC website, and other social media sites.
  6. Assist with the upkeep of social media pages and website.
  7. Attend local events to promote the mission of the GSC to businesses, organizations, and governmental entities.
  8. Assist in updating/maintaining trails and GSC gardens
  9. Leading and assisting with guided trail walks
  10. Create and maintain a small pollinator garden
  11. Assist with youth summer camps
  12. Create Pollinator-themed take-home bags for students
  13. Create educational displays with the GSC’s museum
  14. Meet and Greet Visitors
