Pollinator Conservation and Outreach Intern
The individual appointed to this position will generally possess a background in environmental science, an understanding of the role and importance of pollinators, and a passion for the preservation and conservation of natural resources.
Requirements:
Must have completed 2 years of college courses and have reliable transportation.
Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Conduct a flora and fauna inventory survey: including native plants and pollinators
- Assist and execute environmental lesson plans (focus on pollinators) appropriate for students in grades K-12 and aligned with NYS curricular guidelines.
- Assist with adapting lesson plans for adult groups and/or audiences with special needs.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing festivals, fundraisers, programs, and other events.
- Submit articles for The Marshlander, the GSC website, and other social media sites.
- Assist with the upkeep of social media pages and website.
- Attend local events to promote the mission of the GSC to businesses, organizations, and governmental entities.
- Assist in updating/maintaining trails and GSC gardens
- Leading and assisting with guided trail walks
- Create and maintain a small pollinator garden
- Assist with youth summer camps
- Create Pollinator-themed take-home bags for students
- Create educational displays with the GSC’s museum
- Meet and Greet Visitors
