Billing Support Specialist

*In office work required.**


The Billing Support Specialist position is responsible for printing and mailing paper claims; ensures all necessary backup documentation is attached such as but not limited to medical records, secondary remits, and itemized bill.

 

• Responsible for printing and mailing of paper claims four times weekly; ensures all necessary backup documentation is attached to claims such as but not limited to medical records, secondary remits, and Itemized Bill.
• Notate action taken on the patient account within the EHR system
• May require manual entry of secondary billing for varying states. Productivity and clean entry rates apply
• Perform billing and follow-up on Industrial Accounts
• Work Financial Class change reporting
• Assist other team members when necessary
• Perform other job duties as assigned
• Administrative Duties:
• Accurately input/submit worked time by the required departmental deadlines
• Maintain knowledge of insurance payors and collection regulations
• Maintain industry knowledge through self-study and by attending training courses
• Attend and participate in team and departmental meetings
• Effectively responds to emails, telephone calls, voicemails, Microsoft Teams messages, and correspondence from facilities in a timely manner
• Adherence to all HIPAA Privacy and Security requirements and responsibilities
• Perform duties and responsibilities in a positive manner that upholds company policies and procedures

 

Required Qualifications :

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of computer applications or other automated systems, such as excel spreadsheets, word, email, and database software in working assignments
• Basic knowledge of hospital billing, revenue cycle, and medical terminology
• Knowledge and understanding of Explanation of Benefits (EOB), state, and federal guidelines required
• Ability to understand and interpret correspondence reason for payments, refunds, or underpayment requests
• Ability to navigate healthcare information system(s) and clearinghouse(s)
• Excellent verbal and written communication, good judgment, tact, initiative, and resourcefulness
• Must be detail oriented, organized, and ability to multi-task
• Ability to demonstrate supportive relationships with peers, clients, partners, and corporate executives
• Must be flexible with a “can do” attitude and can remain professional under high pressure situations

 

Training and Experience:
• High School or equivalency diploma required
• 0-3 years or more work experience, where the primary focus was customer service
• Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards independently.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) to complete work assigned
• Customer Service oriented.
