Summer Architecture Internship Call

“Impact through Curiosity, Experience and Design” (ICED) Scholarship 

Call for Applications: BSPARK ICED Scholarships Available: 

BSPARK is seeking applications from US-based students in Architecture or related disciplines, offering them tools and guidance for Research, Design Projects, and Experience of a variety of work at BSPARK Architecture. 

ICED, BSPARK’s hybrid summer scholarship and internship program integrates the academic and professional worlds of architecture. This is a full time opportunity, with a minimum participation of 30 hours / week
 

  • ~$10k total value:
    • ~$6k internship stipend; paid biweekly based on reported hours 
    • ~$1k Study material stipend 
    • ~$3k Travel & accommodations stipend (see below)
      • 2 trips to Great Falls Montana, including travel, accommodations, and outdoor fun with the team. (Stay or work from  here beyond that at your own costs.) 
  • 8-10 weeks full-time (30+hrs/week) participation within the summer months. This allows 2-4 weeks off for other summer fun, and plenty of Research, participation, design, and summer internship experience 
  • Two Design challenges: 4-5 weeks to tackle a project related design challenge, with  access to our team for crits and presentation
  • Two Deep-Dive challenges: 4-5 weeks to tackle a research topic related to the design challenge.
  • Weekly Mentors: Each week an alternating team member invites you to work alongside them for select experiences, including client meetings and internal work sessions via zoom. This gives you valuable insights to all aspects of our practice.

Are you passionate about architecture? Join us this summer at BSPARK, a Public Benefit Architectural Firm headquartered in beautiful Great Falls, Montana.  

We are offering a summer scholarship that will provide opportunities for research, design, and hands-on experience working on a variety of exciting and impactful projects in Montana. Our projects range from historic renovations to residential projects covering much of the state. 

Although our team is geographically dispersed, a core team of Principals and Administrative staff are local to the Great Falls area. 

During your visits, you will gain valuable experience working directly alongside the Principals of our firm throughout the summer while learning how to utilize all of our online platforms for seamless communication with the rest of the team. Our unique distributed team allows you to experience a variety of tools to allow for remote work at times throughout the summer as well.

Our core work week is set at 30 hours per week, allowing for plenty of time for outdoor activities and summer fun along the way!


Position Overview: As a summer scholar, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Two Design Projects
  • Two Research projects related to the Design Topic
  • Assist in the design and planning of architectural projects
  • Create and refine digital drawings and 3D/BIM models using ArchiCAD
  • Conduct site visits and assist with project research
  • Collaborate with project teams and gain exposure to client interactions
  • Participate in team meetings and design charrettes
     

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an architecture, design, or related field
  • Strong interest in architecture and design with a creative mindset
  • Proficiency in software such as ArchiCAD, SketchUp, or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivated, curious, a lifelong learner, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail

Duration:
The scholarship will run for 8-10 weeks during the Summer of 2025.
