Position Overview:
 

The Public Relations Intern will support the communications and media efforts of the Elizabeth Chamber & Destination Future Leaders Internship Program. This role focuses on writing and distributing press releases for all planned events and advocating for EDMO MEDIA initiatives. The intern will work closely with the communications team to enhance public awareness, media engagement, and brand reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, edit, and distribute press releases for all organizational events.
  • Develop compelling media content that aligns with EDMO MEDIA advocacy efforts.
  • Assist in pitching stories to media outlets and maintaining press relationships.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile press clippings.
  • Manage and update media contact lists and databases.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
  • Support the execution of PR campaigns that align with organizational goals.
  • Assist in creating content for newsletters, blogs, and other public-facing communications.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant degree program (e.g., Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Media Studies).
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in media outreach, press writing, or advocacy communications is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for media relations, event promotion, and public advocacy.
