Summer 2025: Repertory Research Internship

The position will provide exposure to the inner workings of a nonprofit art house movie theater, and offer interns the opportunity to make contributions to Film Forum’s repertory program. The repertory research intern will work closely with the repertory office, which programs a robust calendar of classics and revivals, including foreign and American classics, genre works, and retrospectives of actors and directors. Film Forum interns are crucial team members in helping fulfill our mission as a leading nonprofit cinema for the exhibition of independent and classic films.

Candidates should be currently enrolled undergraduate students, and be able to work 10-12 hours a week over 2 shifts Monday through Friday, for a 14-15 week period. Candidates should also be available to work at least one full day (10a-4p) per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays as part of their 10-12 hour commitment, in order to cover weekly tech screenings.

This position will report to the Assistant to the Director and will work closely with staff in the Repertory department.

Duties:

  • Assist repertory programmers with research for upcoming festivals, long runs and special events, including images, press quotes, credit blocks, and synopses
  • Proof festival schedules, flyers, and webpages
  • Pull quotes from new press breaks for repertory long runs
  • Scan and organize archival material
  • Compile materials for social media campaigns ahead of series & retrospectives
  • Attend once monthly Career Conversations (one hour on Zoom)

Misc:

  • Quality-check screening of archival and digital film prints (once or twice weekly @ 10am)
  • Proof text for FF website, program calendars, and press releases to make sure all information is correct and up to date
  • Clip and archive press, as needed
  • Communicate consistently with supervisors re: status of projects
  • Assist with evening special events as needed (according to schedule availability)
  • Run errands as needed

Qualifications:

  • College student (must provide validation of enrollment in a degree-seeking program)
  • Ability to adapt to varying work flow and follow through on completion of tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Previous office experience preferred
  • Ability to work primarily in person / in-office
  • Strong interest in classic films / cinema history a plus
