Special School District (SSD) technology specialist assists in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of professional learning to support classroom teachers, specialists and students to increase student performance through integration of technology into the instructional and learning environment. Provides consultation to support the learning process of staff and students. Continually researches, instructs and offers follow-up support for effective instructional
methods into which use of technology has been embedded. 

Technology Specialist work school hours during the school year only, Monday through Friday. They are generously compensated and receive benefits, including insurance, paid time off and holidays, access to staff health clinics, and more. This position is housed at Southview School, 11660 Eddie & Park Rd, Sappington, MO 63126.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Maintains current knowledge of research-based instructional strategies into which
technological tools and resources are embedded.
● Understands and able to provide support for staff and students using the Apple/Macintosh and Windows operating systems for educational use.
● Maintains knowledge of the most common and up to date software applications aligned to instructional strategies used in elementary and secondary schools including but not
limited to graphic/visual organizers, multimedia, on demand instructional video, word
processing programs, spreadsheets, databases, presentations programs and distance
learning applications.
● Implements SSD District's educational philosophy through use of evidence based
instructional practices for planning, implementing and evaluating learning and goal
attainment
● Seeks out and grows through professional learning in specialized instruction, special
education process, equity, and professional competence
● Creates an environment that is appropriate to the individualized needs of the student and
optimizes learning
● Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to
students, families, and staff
● Shows evidence of lesson planning and other written evidence of program preparation
● Encourages students to set and maintain appropriate standards and goals for
● behavior and academic performance
● Employs a variety of high leverage practices and instructional strategies for special  education
● Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees/building duties and as requested
● Regularly assesses and evaluates the progress of students through formative and
summative assessments, data analysis, observations, and other data collection methods
and provides reports as required
● Utilizes learning aids, including multi-media and technology resources.
● Within reason, when required or requested, makes self available to students and families
outside the instructional day for education-related purposes
● In cooperation with the SSD principal and/or SPED coordinator, plans, and manages the
day-to-day work of assigned teacher assistants and/or aides
● Meets and collaborates with the educational team (families, administrators, teachers,
● counselors, support personnel) to discuss individual programs to be designed for children who will receive instruction and support the special education program
● Provides continuous support and information to educational team members to better support students
● Maintains complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative
regulation
● Assists the administration in implementing District rules and policies on student conduct,
develops classroom universal on behavior and procedures, and maintains classroom
management
● Takes reasonable and necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials,
and facilities

Salary 

  • $47,750 - $79,217.00/year based on education and experience

Calendar

  • 10-month school year (August to June)

Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Missouri Teacher Certification in Special Education required
