Specific Responsibilities May Include

  • Research & Writing: Write articles on environmental topics, blending your research skills with creativity on both assigned and self-selected subjects. Additional writing assignments can include fundraising emails, advocacy campaigns, and other research synthesis.
  • Digital Research: Conduct internet research, such as entering Earth Day events on a global map, researching podcasts and influencers, developing content to support our theme, and collaborating with other interns to support various campaigns.
  • Project Involvement: Depending on your department, assist in grassroots outreach, campaign development, and event planning for global environmental initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in environmental issues and a commitment to solving climate change, ending plastic pollution, and protecting biodiversity.
  • Excellent writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Drive and other digital tools.
  • A professional and positive attitude with the ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
  • Experience in graphic design and Canva are a plus but not required.

Departments & Opportunities

We’re hiring interns for multiple departments, including:

  • Communications: Write articles, emails, social media, create graphics.
  • Education: Help craft climate education materials and contribute to academic partnerships.
  • The Great Global Cleanup: Support our worldwide cleanup initiatives by coordinating outreach and managing data.
  • Plastics & End Plastics Campaign: Research policy, track pollution trends, and help with advocacy efforts.
  • Universities & National Campaigns: Connect with campus groups, partners, while researching environmental initiatives and driving campaigns.

Terms and Benefits

Internships are 15 hours a week minimum with at least 3 days on. This internship can be fully remote or hybrid. Our office is located in Washington, DC, with in-office opportunities on Wednesdays.

This is an unpaid internship, but college credit can be awarded if your institution supports it. In addition, you’ll receive training in new technologies, participate in career development talks, and gain mentorship from experienced staff.
