Hospitality Coordinator

Job Title:                Hospitality Coordinator 

Job Status:            Part-time (20%), 10 Months

Exempt Status:    Non-Exempt

Reports to:             Director of Marketing & Communications

 

Job Summary 

TKA is a Christ-centered school grounded in a Biblical worldview, and we are looking for a Hospitality Coordinator who is a follower of Jesus Christ and is dedicated to the school’s Christ-centered mission. The primary responsibility of this position is to contribute to the success of key events by ensuring that our hospitality experience (food, drinks, snacks), and the employees and volunteers coordinating the hospitality experience, make our guests feel welcomed and appreciated. Events often take place in the evening, and occasionally on weekends.  

Essential Job Functions

Regular Activities

  • Attend event planning meetings, as needed
  • Calculate the amount and type of food needed for an event, staying within budget constraints
  • Select appropriate vendors; purchase and transport food, drink, and other hospitality items to TKA
  • Decide the set-up of the hospitality area for an event, working with the PR team
  • Set-up, replenish, and clean-up the event’s hospitality area
  • Coordinate the work of parent volunteers, delegating tasks as appropriate
  • Organize and inventory hospitality supplies
  • Submit expense reports on a timely basis

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Prior experience coordinating larger-scale events is strongly preferred
  • Experience delegating tasks in a volunteer context is strongly preferred

Skills and Abilities 

  • Excellent skills in communicating both orally and in written form
  • Able to work both independently and in a team setting
  • Able to see what needs to be done and act on it
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example  
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite
  • Ability to learn new computer software systems

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Required to use the computer and/or phone for communicating with team members
  • Work will be performed from the campus; reimbursable travel to stores and other vendor locations is required, using a personal vehicle to transport food and other event-related items
  • Will move throughout the campus, there are long periods of standing and being on your feet
  • May occasionally have to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Work is generally performed, August-Early June, hours TBD
  • This position will require you to work nights and weekends per the events calendar
  • The months listed are approximate, and the annual start and end date will be dictated by the school calendar and the department’s needs

  • Pay Grid:  Admin Support I
  • Pay Grid Range: $19.64 to $23.47
    • This position is paid based on a preset salary grid, and the actual salary will be determined by applicable education and experience as determined by the Human Resources department. The starting pay listed reflects this position's minimum experience and education requirements. The top pay range represents the top of the pay grid for this position. It is rare for a candidate to enter this position at the top of the pay grid. Most candidates can expect to enter in the lower to middle section of the pay grid, depending on experience and education.
