Human Resources Intern

The Metropolitan District is a non-profit municipal corporation chartered by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1929 to provide potable water and sewerage services on a regional basis. Today, the MDC provides quality water supply, water pollution control, mapping, and household hazardous waste collection to eight member municipalities - Bloomfield, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Wethersfield and Windsor - and to portions of other towns in the region. The Human Resource Department is looking to hire a full-time (37.5 hours/week) college intern for the MDC's summer internship program.

The Intern will report to our Headquarters facility located in Hartford, CT.

The intern will work from June 2, 2025 to August 1, 2025

DUTIES

  • Assist with recruitments, including basic administrative work, as well as scheduling, interviewing, and following up with candidates.
  • Help organize and coordinate employee events/activities.
  • Assist with day-to-day questions from employees
  • Act as the liaison/program manager for the college internship program.
  • Assist with HR projects and initiatives as necessary and/or appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS

College student currently enrolled in a BA, BS or Associate's program in Marketing, Communications, Business Management or Organizational Behavior or related major. Candidate may have exposure to private and/or personal information and must be able to keep such information confidential. Candidate must exhibit professionalism in dealing with sensitive information.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
