Position Summary:
Supports the functions of the Communications Office, along with cross-functionality duties with the Information Technology department, by maintaining information on the DeKalb CUSD website and social media sites by updating content, assisting with analytics and performance tracking, writing and adding content, creating new webpages, training and supporting designated building representatives responsible for content updates to school sites, and offer real-time technology and creative support. Assists the Communications Manager with all communication needs, social media management, and crisis communications.

- Ensures that all actions comply with established Board policies and the mission, vision, and values defined by the district and Board of Education.
- Carries out such additional duties as required or as conditions necessitate.
- Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities to enhance the ability to perform the job's essential functions.
- Oversee daily management of District and school websites, including design, keeping all elements of the homepage current, managing content, and creating new web pages as needed.
- Ensure that the district and each school website have excellent communication, marketing, and retention tools, containing up-to-date sources of information for families, staff, and community members.
- Maintain and provide ongoing layout, visual appearance, and website usability.
- Support and assist with website-specific content manager training at each school.
- Partner with Information Technology to work with the website content management system vendor regarding technical aspects and user experience functionality of the website.
- Support district staff in creating and maintaining web pages.
- Assist the Communication Manager in developing and monitoring the District and related social media channels, as well as strategies and tactics to engage community partners, including students, staff, and families.
- Helps develop and maintain website and social media analytics and traffic patterns to help inform effective content strategy
- Create images and graphics highlighting the District and school events, initiatives, and projects.
- Assist in managing the district's marquee and digital signage systems to ensure consistent use, message, and branded elements.
- Collaborate with the Communications Manager and District staff members to support communications efforts (newsletters, presentations, training, employee relations, crisis communication, and strategic communication initiatives.)
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for District meetings and events.
Qualifications
- Associates degree is required, bachelor’s preferred with major coursework in social media management, digital marketing, website design, communications, or any combination of experience and training that will provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Knowledge of website design ADA Requirements, development principles, practices, and various web-enabling computer languages such as HTML, Javascript, PHP, and FTP, and experience with one or more Content Management Systems web platforms.
- Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space.
- Experience with industry-standard graphics applications, including the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Basic understanding and curiosity about communications principles, tools, and channels.
- Strong writing, proofreading, phone skills, and attention to detail are essential.
- Previous experience and ability to create, edit, and manage digital media editing and production.
- Proficient usage of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Access to reliable transportation. Periodic travel to schools within the district will be required.
