Foundation Development Director
The Whatcom County Library System (WCLS) is accepting applications for a part-time Foundation Development Director position at the WCLS Administrative Services building.
SUMMARY: The Foundation Development Director is responsible for the development of the Whatcom County Library Foundation (WCLF). Working with the WCLF Board, provides leadership and direction for sustainable fundraising; coordinates the work of volunteers in carrying out a variety of fundraising activities; writes grants, represents the Library's needs and interests in working with groups and the public; performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING HOURS: An average of twenty (20) regularly scheduled hours per week. Regular schedule will generally occur between Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend or evening hours, to be determined with the successful candidate. Successful candidates may be required to adapt to future schedule and/or worksite changes depending on library needs.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS: (see attached job description for complete list)
- Bachelor's Degree and three or more years of proven fundraising experience are required; or equivalent training, education and/or experience.
- Ability to obtain a valid Washington Driver License;
- Knowledge of fundraising systems and procedures; federal, state and local laws, tax requirements and financials reports pertaining to charitable solicitation, fundraising, development and philanthropic giving; grant writing techniques, resources and grant administration;
- Ability to act as a representative of Whatcom County Library System to the public;
- Ability to work independently and establish priorities and organize workload; competence in planning and coordinating multiple projects and activities with limited supervision;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a high level of accuracy including public speaking;
- Expert knowledge of relevant computer systems, including hardware and software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks or other accounting software, DonorPerfect or other donor management software and office machines.
- Requires the ability to speak and understand English.
