Graduate Student Assistant

The California Department of Finance (Finance) is offering a paid 12-16 week summer internship opportunity for graduate-level students!

Responsibilities: 

Perform analysis on a policy issue.  

Independently gather and evaluate information on an assigned project. 

Showcase findings and make recommendations.  

Attend staff meetings, lectures, and hearings.  

Interact and network with fellow interns. 

Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.  

Prepare oral presentations, memos, reports, issue papers, or articles for internal and external audiences.  

 

Minimum Qualifications  

Registration as a graduate student in a college or university of recognized standing. (Persons appointed during the summer months must produce evidence of eligibility for such registration in the following enrollment period.) This is a non-testing classification, therefore anyone meeting the minimum qualifications listed on the classification specification may apply for this position. 

 

Required Application Package Documents 

Current version of the State of California application STD. 678. 

A resume is required and must be included. 

Degree and/or School Transcripts. 

Three references including name, relationship, and telephone number.  

A Statement of Interest (SOI). The SOI is a one-page statement of interest outlining why you are interested in an internship position with the Department of Finance (Finance).
