Join the Sixth Judicial District as a Treatment Court Coordinator! The Sixth Judicial District seeks to fill a part-time (possibility for 30-40 hours per week) exempt Treatment Court Coordinator position located in St. Louis County, serving the Range Hybrid Court. This is responsible, professional work coordinating and supervising the activities of a Treatment Court.
Work involves the performance of extensive planning, organizing, coordinating and monitoring the activities of the Treatment Court. This position works collaboratively with judges and may take part in statewide work groups and/or team meetings to promote best practices, efficiency, and effective operations on a system wide basis.
What You Will Do
The following are examples of major job duties expected of this position:
- Plans, implements, administers, and monitors the day-to-day activities of a Treatment Court.
- Serves on Treatment Court teams.
- Secures funding to support ongoing Treatment Court operations.
- Directs and maintains an accounting and auditing system with respect to program funds.
- Writes grant proposals; plans and prepares budgetary estimates and justifications.
- Coordinates and approves expenditures and oversees fiscal contractual obligations.
- Organizes and coordinates training for team members and treatment court partners such as substance abuse or mental health treatment providers.
- Maintains cooperative relationships with treatment agencies, community organizations, the Probation Department, and the Department of Human Services.
- Attends and participates in conferences, meetings, and committees as the Treatment Court representative.
- Attends case staffings and court hearings.
- Consults with treatment court judges on a wide range of organizational and managerial issues including, but not limited to, internal and external quality assurance, efficiency, and policy.
- Monitors and supervises Treatment Court services, including participant referrals and screening and determining the need for additional court services and assessing appropriate services for individual participants; uses discretion in interpreting treatment court policies and procedures and completes participant case reviews, including compiling and evaluating information from other team members to inform Treatment Court team decisions.
- Facilitates community presentations, assists in docket development, promotes team integrity, develops community resources, monitors quality assurance, develops agendas, and collects data.
- Serves as liaison by representing the Treatment Court team, serving as the point of contact for information about the Treatment Court, and coordinating services for participants and the court between team members, steering committee, with the general public, and court administration.
- Provides guidance, assistance to participants, and updates on policy changes.
- Administers evaluations, reviews participant files, and may conduct initial screenings in order to identify the nature and severity of substance abuse, mental health, or other problems central to the Treatment Court.
- Prepares reports to court, state, and county agencies. Oversees collection of performance and outcome data.
- Collaborates with judges, lawyers, police, and sheriff to coordinate programs for participants.
- Provides education and community awareness for the Treatment Courts.
- Supports other Sixth District Treatment Court Coordinators in backup court coverage and sharing of ideas.

- Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work preferably in criminal justice, sociology, psychology, social work, or related field.
- Experience in court systems and/or relevant Treatment Court area required, i.e. working with people affected by chemical dependency and/or mental illness, etc.

- Considerable knowledge of the habits and actions of people with alcohol and other drug problems, or other problems for which the treatment court is intended to address.
- Knowledge of programs and resources available for chemical dependency or people affected by mental illness.
- Knowledge of programs and resources available for battered spouses, people affected by mental illness, and drug court ancillary services.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish rapport with people experiencing alcohol and other drug problems and/or mental health issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively on a team.
- Ability to manage, organize, and prioritize tasks and team relationships/dynamics.
- Ability to operate within policy and budget expectations.
What You Will Earn
The anticipated starting hourly rate for this position is no less than $31.52 for external hires, with a full future earning potential of $31.52-$48.81 per hour. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of MN employee benefits.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting or a courtroom under the general supervision of district administration and may take work direction from judges following Minnesota statutes, court rules and policies, and generally accepted professional guidelines and procedures. Work involves contact with persons who may be angry, abusive, or threatening.

The Sixth Judicial District serves Minnesota's Arrowhead Region, including the counties of Carlton, Cook, Lake, and St. Louis counties (Duluth, Hibbing, and Virginia).
Logistics
This is a part-time (possibility for 30-40 hours per week) exempt position classified as Treatment Courts Coordinator within the Minnesota Judicial Branch job classification system. Work will be performed at the St. Louis County Courthouse, located at 300 5th Avenue South, Virginia, MN. This position may work in a hybrid role consisting of a combination of remote and in-person work. When working remotely, access to reliable internet connection is required.
