Therapeutic Recreation Specialist II
The Therapeutic Recreation Center in Lake Worth is hiring for a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist II
Duties:
- Plans develop, coordinates, implements, organizes, adapts, supervises, and evaluates County-wide/community therapeutic recreation programs including summer day camps, sports leagues, various games, arts, crafts, drama, dance, aquatic programs, swimming lessons, and special events for persons of all ages with and without disabilities.
- Assesses recreational needs; researches trends; implements/coordinates programs instructed by contractual staff and volunteers. Plans/implements competition and games logistics, including transportation for events. Creates/distributes promotional materials; maintains social media sites; assists with fundraising campaigns.
- Meets with the public, parents, groups, schools, and organizations to provide information, promote/formulate new programs, and further public relations for the County; maintains attendance records and program statistics; orders, tracks and secures equipment.
- Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and evaluation of results obtained.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Health and Physical Education or related field; minimum of one (1) year of experience organizing and supervising recreational activities.
OR
Equivalencies:
- 1. Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related experience
- 2. Related Associate’s Degree and three (3) years of related experience
- 3. Unrelated Associate’s Degree and four (4) years of related experience
- 4. Graduation for high school or an equivalent recognized certification and five (5) years of related experience.
Necessary Special Requirement:
- Must obtain Adult and Ped First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 6motnhs of hire.
- SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION SUBJECT TO RANDOM DRUG TESTING
- Must pass a Level 2 background check prior to appointment.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Supervising program participants with disabilities (must specify on application); recruiting and securing sponsorships/donations for programs or special events. Also desirable: Valid FL Class A/B/C CDL with Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsements; Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS); Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation; bilingual (Spanish/Creole).
