Code Coach

Code Coach Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Code Coach to teach young learners the fundamentals of computer programming and more. This is a part-time, in-person position at the Walnut location, and you will work as an instructor for the students from 5 to 25 hours per week (same times weekly). These hours can generally be between 2:30 to 7:30pm on weekdays or 9:00am to 4:00pm on weekends. As a Code Coach, you will play a crucial role in fostering excitement for technology, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and teach engaging lessons using age-appropriate languages, platforms, or fields. Be able to reverse-engineer games or concepts and adapt it to a student's interests and skills.
  • Provide personalized guidance and support to students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their goals through individualized project-based lessons.
  • Show up on time, manage lesson content with students in a structured, engaging manner, take notes, maintain open communication with parents, share student progress, and address concerns within each session.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of fundamental programming concepts and experience with various coding languages and tech.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students and parents.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and a commitment to inspiring young minds.

Benefits:

  • Pay: Depends on experience, $18 to $22 per hour

  • Include all the programming languages, platforms, and fields you know with an estimated proficiency (beginner, intermediate, or advanced) in each. Examples of languages or platforms may include but are not limited to: Scratch Jr., Scratch, Python, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, C#, C##, Minecraft, Unity, Roblox, Godot, videogame development, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, robotics (mbot, etc.), 3D Printing, mobile app development, kid-friendly circuitry, videography, video editing, Final Cut Pro, graphic and digital art programs (Procreate, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Your consistent weekly availability, days, and time frames.
  • What type of workshop would you like to create — Dungeons and Dragons, Rubik’s cube, chess, sewing projects, cosplay crafting, etc.
