Program Coordinator
The Program Coordinator will be an integral part of a small, action-oriented team dedicated to advancing women’s rights and social justice, locally and globally. WAKE seeks an enthusiastic, organized and creative team member with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively to support our global programming, which currently includes the U.S. (Bay Area), Colombia, Guatemala, Cambodia, Malaysia, Nepal, Lithuania and Rwanda.
This is a full time non-exempt role at an estimated 40 hours per week, with opportunities for domestic and international travel requiring a valid passport. Compensation as further detailed below is commensurate with experience, and candidate’s place of permanent residence.
WAKE is a remote work place and team. This position is open to all U.S. Citizens, or Lawful Permanent Residents residing in, and authorized to work within the United States, with some priority given to Bay Area based candidates.

The Program Coordinator will report to WAKE’s Director of Operations. The right candidate is a highly organized individual with strong attention to detail, great communication skills, self-motivation and a keen interest in learning and growing within a small team. The right person will also have knowledge of, and dedication to global development and social justice movements, while demonstrating respect for colleagues, volunteers, the nonprofits, and partners with whom we work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Program Coordinator is integral to WAKE’s daily operations, program design, implementation, and communications. Their voice, and ideas are highly valued in team discussions. The incumbent will also play a key role in the implementation of WAKE’s digital communications and will support program administration.
Program Management + Design
The majority of WAKE’s programs are international with one key U.S.-based program annually. The Program Coordinator will support and play a key role in both the international and domestic programming, with opportunities to travel with the team.
Specific duties will include:
- Contribute to design and roll-out of virtual and in-person programming;
- Research, outreach and recruitment of program participants, including women-led nonprofit organizations and social enterprises;
- Prepare onboarding materials, webinar slides and program surveys;
- Other duties as requested.
Communications
Under the guidance of, and in collaboration with the Director of Strategic Partnerships, the Program Coordinator will:
- Manage WAKE social media accounts (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook) which may include content creation using templatized branding/voice, and engaging with WAKE followers, stakeholders, online community, and global partners.
- Implement social media campaigns promoting WAKE’s Tech2Empower programs highlighting impact stories, and amplifying relevant social justice issues;
- Track, manage, and implement website updates and edits, and contribute to the development of collateral.
Administrative Support
- Export, sort, and track pre-program survey data, respondent follow up as needed.
- Track incoming donations and forms.
- Keep inventory of supplies, and reorder as needed.
- Vendor research for General Operating or Programmatic purposes if, and when required.
- Support team with database management including data entry.
- Internal/external digital communications (email, Slack, WhatsApp), and minor tech support as needed during programs, webinars, etc.
Strategy + Teamwork
- Contribute toward, and support organization-wide initiatives strengthening Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) goals and partnerships across all programs;
- Active participation in team discussions centering innovative strategies to expand programmatic reach and impact.
SKILLS + EXPERIENCE
Required
- B.A. plus minimum 1 year relevant work experience, or 4 years of relevant experience in a nonprofit, similar, or program adjacent field.
- Prior experience helping to plan and implement events (virtual and/or in person);
- Knowledge, interest, and/or experience in learning about the nonprofit sector; global development, cross-cultural exchange, international education or similar fields;
- Interest in and availability to travel internationally and within the U.S. (2+ programs annually)
- Strong care for and attention to details; and the ability to engage positively with team members across multiple time zones in a collaborative, remote workplace.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and experience working with individuals from historically underserved communities.
- Proficiency in/experience with Google Suite, Calendly, Zoom, Slack, Asana, and Microsoft Outlook.
Preferred
- Past/present contributions to DEI initiatives, and knowledge of best practices toward maintaining a just, anti-racist, and decolonized workplace, and professional environment.
- Experience utilizing Canva as a collateral design tool, and other graphic elements;
- Knowledge of and/or curiosity to learn more about Generative AI and its professional applications for drafting content, research, and data management.
- Some familiarity creating simple video content for social media, and/or video editing tools;
- Basic understanding of survey applications such as Alchemer/ SurveyGizmo, data entry, CRM and/or Salesforce management experience and;
- Knowledge of/desire to learn basic administrative tasks, general best practices, and common business communication tools.
- Experience with or interest in developing facilitation skills for webinars and workshops.
COMPENSATION
The hourly rate of compensation is between $24 to $25 per hour at 40 hours per week (approximately $50-52K annually) commensurate with experience, and dependent on the candidate's place of residence with opportunity for growth. WORK ENVIRONMENT
WAKE is a remote workplace where those comfortable, and able to effectively work from home will thrive. Although founded in the San Francisco/Bay Area we are a fully remote team, and the position requires someone who is comfortable and able to effectively work from home. The incumbent will be provided with a laptop but must have access to reliable high speed internet and/or WiFi.
The incumbent shall not be constrained to a specific geographic location so long as they reside in the United States, and/or its territories, and productivity/continuity of programming is unaffected by the incumbent’s location, and availability. However, the incumbent must notify WAKE of any long term, permanent move outside, or within the United States/and its territories. Domestic and/or International travel is required 2 times annually, with potential for more depending on programmatic needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to sit, or stand for extended periods of time in front of a computer screen, with adequate manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, and lift up to 25 pounds.
