POSITION SUMMARY
An OARS guide supports the OARS mission, promise and core values by providing high-quality experiences for our guests, while minimizing risk in a dynamic and wild environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
● Minimum of CPR, epinephrine auto-injector, and First-Aid level (Wilderness First Responder or greater is required for multi-day guides, day-guides are required to have minimum WFA),  and swiftwater training

● Communication, customer service, and people skills.
● Ability to work with a diverse group of guests and coworkers.
● Willingness to work all aspects of the job.
● Physically fit, water-based guides must be able to self-rescue back into boat.
● Appropriate training, experience, and competency for the river or trail, water level and type of craft used on the trip.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES
● Foster a respectful workplace.
● Demonstrates the ability to learn and execute the skills and knowledge required to conduct trip operations.
● Maintains required personal equipment in good working order for region of hire.
● Familiarization of OARS policies, handbooks, and plans including workplace safety; and managing agency requirements.
● In-depth knowledge of emergency plans and procedures.
● Trained and tested on vehicle policies, practices and procedures when applicable.
