Industrial Engineering Intern

Oertel Metal Works is looking to hire an Industrial Engineering Intern for Summer, 2025.  Applicants pursuing any level of college degree in an engineering program are encouraged to apply.  This will be a full-time role scheduled 32-40 hours per week, with a flexible start date based on school timelines. 

 

What can you expect in this role?

At Oertel Metal Works, we are looking for highly motivated interns who want to learn more about Industrial Engineering from a fabrication and steel perspective. Interns will be based out of our location in Davenport, Iowa.

 

Under the supervision of our Engineering Manager, responsibilities will include:

  • Develop standard work processes and procedures for operators
  • Assist with equipment installation and integration
  • Lead change through root cause analyses and “5 Why” methodology
  • Assisting with drawings, sketches and concepts on potential projects
  • Actively engaging with quality staff and shop tradesman

 

Here’s what it takes to get started:

  • Ability to prioritize work and meet project deadlines
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products, including Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor a plus
