Business Development Intern

Position: Spring Semester Business Development Intern

This internship offers a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting, fast-paced environment where you’ll learn about the intersection of college sports, NIL, and business development while making a direct impact on our mission.

Position Overview:

As a Business Development Intern, you will work closely with our team to support lead generation efforts, develop new business opportunities, and strengthen relationships with our university and commercial partners. This role is ideal for a motivated self-starter who is passionate about sports business, sales, and strategic partnerships. This is a commission based internship, $50 per meeting set with a potential lead.   

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Lead Generation and Development:
    • Research and compile lead lists for potential university and commercial partner opportunities.
    • Identify key decision-makers and influencers within target organizations.
  2. University Engagement:
    • Collaborate with universities and their teams to identify potential warm leads.
    • Conduct outreach to alumni and stakeholders to explore partnership opportunities.
  3. Cold Outreach:
    • Assist in crafting compelling cold outreach messaging for email and LinkedIn campaigns.
    • Execute cold calls to potential leads under the guidance of senior team members.
  4. Sales Exposure:
    • Participate in sales presentations and gain insights into how we pitch our value proposition to universities and partners.
    • Support the preparation of presentation materials, proposals, and follow-up communication.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Market Analysis:
    • Conduct industry research to identify emerging trends and opportunities in NIL and college athletics.
  2. Revenue Optimization Projects:
    • Support the development of strategies for maximizing revenue opportunities for universities and partners.
    • Collaborate on creative solutions to address donor fatigue and enhance value propositions.
  3. CRM and Data Management:
    • Maintain and update CRM systems with lead and prospect data.
    • Track and report on outreach activity and results.
  4. Strategic Collaboration:
    • Work alongside the NRS team to brainstorm innovative ways to generate revenue for our university and commercial partners.
    • Participate in team strategy sessions to align on goals and refine processes.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related field.
  • Junior, Senior or Graduate School Candidates 
  • Strong research, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Interest in college athletics and the NIL space.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
  • Experience with sales, CRM platforms, or lead generation is a plus but not required.
