The Southwest Connecticut Mental Health System (SWCMHS), under the umbrella of the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Clinical Psychologist (PCN 80284). This position will support our Community Outreach and Engagement Service (COES) a team under our Regional Mobile Crisis Team at our facility in Bridgeport. The Southwest Connecticut Mental Health System, with three locations throughout Fairfield County, promotes and administers comprehensive recovery-oriented services in the areas of mental health treatment and substance abuse prevention and treatment. These services include inpatient treatment programs with 62 beds and a wide range of outpatient clinical services, as well as additional supportive treatment services.

Please note:

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

A doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology and one (1) year of post-doctoral experience as a psychologist working under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience providing community-based (i.e. office based, and non-office based) behavioral health services.
  • Experience working with individuals with severe and prolonged mental health issues, substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders and individuals with histories of legal involvement.
  • Experience providing clinical best practices including Trauma Informed treatments.
  • Experience working in an environment which embraces a global cultural environment of diversity.
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary clinical team of professional and paraprofessionals.
  • Experience providing individual counseling or psychotherapy.
  • Experience working with individuals in crisis and presenting with risk issues.
  • Experience using an Electronic Medical Record and other proprietary software.
  • Ability to transport clients.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license to practice psychology in Connecticut. Any person employed by the State of Connecticut prior to July 1, 1985 with a title in the Psychology series of the classified service shall be exempt from the above licensure requirement pursuant to Public Act 613, Section 119(c). For certain positions the appointing authority may require state licensure.
  • Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. § 1320a-7b(f).
