The Emmy Award-winning Oklahoma City Thunder Broadcast Department is dedicated to delivering exceptional content that shares the story of our team and brand. As the Broadcast Creative Lead, you will collaborate with a talented team of professionals to produce engaging and dynamic video content.
Your role will include shooting and editing a variety of events such as practices, community initiatives, and in-arena game footage. We are looking for a versatile creator who is both a skilled video journalist and a graphic designer, with strong communication and writing abilities to craft compelling stories in both short and long-form formats.
In this role you will:
- Operate team-owned camera and editing equipment to deliver content across Thunder media platforms, including TV/Radio, in-arena displays, website, social media, and Thunder TV broadcasts
- Serve as a “one-person band,” handling reporting, writing, and editing of features
- Act as the lead photographer/editor for special projects
- Provide creative direction and guidance on graphic design and visual elements within the department
- Capture content from home-games, practices, community events, player interviews, and features for social media and other platforms
- Develop and execute creative strategies for Media Day and other team-related events and projects
- Collaborate with departments and corporate partners to create cross-functional video production opportunities, focusing on community impact storytelling
- Stay updated on web video technologies and industry trends, recommending innovations to enhance video production and fan experiences
- Create static graphics and animations for various digital platform features
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent work or military experience
- 7–10 years of experience in shooting and editing, live and taped programming, post-production, and graphics
- Resume reel of prior work experience required
- Strong non-linear editing and post-production skills, with proficiency in Avid and Adobe Creative Suite preferred
- Demonstrated creativity and innovation in developing projects and story ideas, with solid writing skills
- Expertise in photography styles and techniques, with advanced editing capabilities
- Proficient in video encoding, codecs, and formatting for various channels
- Comprehensive knowledge of NBA basketball
- Proven ability to plan and field-produce shoots successfully
- Excellent oral communication skills and ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment
- Capable of working quickly and accurately under pressure, with an understanding of the impact of timing
Additional details:
Work schedule will primarily include Monday-Friday business hours and include evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed. A valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation are required as some local or regional travel will be necessary. The primary work location will be the Thunder corporate office located in downtown Oklahoma City at the Paycom Center. This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work outdoor events in varying weather conditions, and adapt to high noise levels during games. This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the Director, Broadcast Production. Employees are encouraged to be vaccinated for COVID-19.
