Communications & Marketing Summer Intern
Job Description:
Use your summer to gain real-world work experience with a communications & marketing team that keeps winning state and national awards for excellence. This position will be a crash course in what it takes to keep the public informed about their local government by using creative and compelling content. We expect our intern to be professional, outgoing, a great writer, Canva savvy, and detail oriented. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain diverse skillsets from web design to social media, so you can build an impressive portfolio.
Job Duties May include:
• Updating the Town's website, working on accessibility enhancements and creating engaging content for residents
• Writing and editing news releases and articles for publication for internal and external audiences
• Developing advertising, promotional campaigns, flyers and marketing strategies
• Producing written copy and visuals for a variety of communication platforms including social media and website.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Deadline driven and detail oriented
• Presents oneself and communicates in a professional manner
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office software
• Must be enrolled full-time in an accredited university or college;
• Must be classified as an undergraduate student;
• Must be able to provide an unofficial transcript, resume and work samples (articles, social media posts, or website page design/copy); and,
• Must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite
• Knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube
Internship Details:
• Ability to work in-person at Holly Springs Town Hall and attend events around town as needed
• This position is temporary and work schedule is 20-25 hours/week including occasional evening and weekend events.
• Starts late May 2025- Early August 2025- approximately 10 weeks
• Hourly rate is $15/hour
