Position: UI/UX Design Specialist
Location: Alexandria, VA
Overview: Group W, Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking a mid-level UI/UX Design Specialist to identify new opportunities and create better user experiences for government websites, applications, and Microsoft product templates. The UI/UX Design Specialist will be responsible for researching and streamlining products for a DoD organization in support of an overall digital transformation initiative. They will design the screens that make up digital user interfaces, the individual elements or features on those screens, and the overall layout and flow of the entire experience. The UI/UX Design Specialist will often be asked to create high fidelity prototypes for inspection and review and/or apply agile practices to iteratively modernization features over time in existing websites and applicants. The individual is expected to perform hands-on design work, interactive design, create wireframes and prototypes and work with developers to implement solutions. Strong applicants will have a knowledge of fundamental visual, interaction, and UX design principles and processes.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizen
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
- 7+ years' experience analyzing and developing requirements for hardware, software tools and applications, or IT-related infrastructure
Preferred:
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Knowledge and experience with fundamental visual, interaction, and UX design principals and processes
- Certification in UX Design
- Experience using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Responsibilities:
- Research and streamline products for a DoD organization supporting overall digital transformation initiatives
- Design screens that make up digital user interfaces, individual elements, and overall layout
- Create highly dependable prototypes for inspection and review
- Perform hands on design work and interactive design
- Create wireframes and prototypes while working with developers to implement solutions
Salary: $100,000 to $145,000 (provided as a general guideline only. Compensation dependent upon relevant work experience related to the scope of the position, education, training, and market considerations).
