Financial advisory to distressed situations is an engaging sector which allows professionals the ability to develop a multitude of professional skills which makes them desired candidates across all sectors in finance. A distressed financial advisor:
- Becomes proficient with Excel through the development of robust operating models, 13-week cash flows, and three statement models with forecasts.
- Becomes proficient with PowerPoint through the development of a variety of presentation types with diverse audience types, both bankruptcy professionals and unsophisticated creditors alike.
- Becomes proficient in the development of professional emails as there is ample opportunity to converse with legal counsel, company-side C-suite professionals, financial advisor counterparties, and creditors.
- Becomes proficient in interpersonal communication skills through listening in on and participating in professional calls.
- Becomes proficient in the analysis of legal writing through the review and development of court dockets.
Financial advisory in distressed situations breeds a well-rounded “jack-of-all-trades” financial professional with diverse exit options into other financial industries throughout their career.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Analyst Intern role is a paid, ten-week onsite internship intended for students entering their senior year in which you will participate in all aspects of the firm’s engagements, including assisting with bankruptcy-related financial and legal analysis, litigation, developing complex financial models, providing valuations, evaluating strategic alternatives, and quantifying damages.
Through a ten-week intensive training program, Analyst Interns will work closely with all members of the team on a variety of engagements representing clients such as distressed companies (debtors), Chapter 7 and 11 liquidating trustees, lenders, creditors’ committees, and plan administrators in cases spanning all industries.
