Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Geology, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Toxicology, Environmental Science or related field. Two years of experience in groundwater modeling and/or environmental impact evaluation or site specific risk assessment are required.
Recruitment Notes
The Hydrogeologist 3 is in the Environmental Monitoring and Restoration Division of Regulatory and Economic Resources Department. This is advanced professional, administrative, and supervisory work for the Department of Environmental Resources Management, conducting management of contaminated sites undergoing environmental site rehabilitation work. Employees in this class are responsible for reviewing complex site rehabilitation documents for cleanup of contaminated sites in accordance with established procedures and regulations, specifically, the FDEP’s Petroleum Restoration Program rules and regulations and implementation of Chapter 62-780, Florida Administrative Code and/or Chapter 24, Code of Miami-Dade County. Incumbents exercise considerable independent judgment in managing programmatic and/or fiscal aspects of environmental resource projects and programs and shall demonstrate understanding of the evaluation of environmental impact, aquifer characterization, geological formations, stratigraphic profiles, fate and transport models and statistical methods, to render technically sound site rehabilitation decisions. Supervision may be exercised over professional, technical, and clerical subordinates assisting in various phases of program activities. Supervision is received from a professional superior who reviews work for effective project management and achievement of desired goals and objectives..
