SuitUp 2024 Fall Internship

Position: SuitUp General Interest Internship

Location: Remote (with potential in-person opportunities in New York City, NY if local) 

# of Hours: 10+ hours a week (schedule for in-person hours will be set by supervisor)

Paid/Unpaid: Unpaid with the ability to use towards college credit
Date: Wednesday, September 18th - Friday, December 6th, 2024 (tentatively)

 

Overview of Suit Up

Founded in 2014, SuitUp is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that increases college and career awareness with students from underserved and under-resourced communities. SuitUp organizes student business competitions for corporate volunteers where employees help students solve a problem for a real company, like creating a new shoe for Nike or a new feature for Snapchat. Since inception, SuitUp has hosted competitions for organizations like Goldman Sachs, NBCUniversal, Forbes, Snap Inc. and many others, organizing events for over 16,000 volunteers and impacting more than 23,500 students.

 

The Opportunity & Responsibilities

SuitUp is currently seeking multiple interns to support the team in organizing and executing org-wide workstreams and events. Interns will be tasked with supporting the SuitUp Team in one of the 5 main workstreams mentioned below: 

 

Department Job Responsibilities:

 

Business Development

  • Assist in outreach efforts to pitch SuitUp events to prospective partners
  • Codify strategies to increase partner satisfaction, renewal rates & ROI

Programs

  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders
  • Identifying new strategies for organizational & event success.

Marketing & Communications

  • Content creation for internal and external purposes
  • Outreach and public relations through marketing streams

Operations Management & Humans Capital

  • Manage staff recruitment and applicant screening process.
  • Develop, codify and continue to enhance day-to-day procedures
  • Revitalize and amplify SuitUp’s work culture

Fundraising & Development

  • Sourcing and co-managing in-kind donations
  • Develop and enhance strategies and fundraising databases
  • Collaborate with SuitUp stakeholders to execute and record fundraising metrics.

*Interns may complete some work within departments outside of their preferences*
 

Required Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with corporate volunteers (ages 21 to 65) and middle/high school students (ages 10 to 18) in a client-facing role
  • Excellent public speaking, communication and presentation skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiatives and run with projects independently
  • Organized, energetic and positive with natural leadership qualities
  • A passion for education and increasing career awareness for students in low-income communities
  • Resourcefulness and an orientation to learn what it’s like working on a small but mighty team
  • Previous work experience in sales, marketing, education, youth development or event planning is preferred
  • Ability to travel to SuitUp’s office and commute in and around New York City
  • Comply with SuitUp COVID-19 Vaccination Policy (where applicable)
