Organization Description:  CSTE is an organization of member states and territories representing public health epidemiologist. We also act as the professional home for individuals working in applied public health epidemiologists. CSTE works to advance public health policy and epidemiologic capacity. We provide information, education, and developmental support of practicing epidemiologists in a wide range of areas as well as expertise for program and surveillance efforts. For over six decades CSTE has worked with states to provide technical advice and assistance to partner health agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. CSTE offers a hybrid workplace model with the National Office location in Atlanta, GA with a majority of staff located in that area. Most Atlanta based staff telework partly in the National Office and partly from an alternative worksite, such as their home. CSTE also supports a distributed remote workforce across the country. Position Description:  Under the general supervision of the Director of Educational Strategy, the intern will be responsible for supporting a variety of CSTE’s workforce development and training and education activities.  

Areas of work will include curriculum development and implementation, training assessment, learning management system administration, supporting continuing education processes, and evaluation. Other topics may relate to workforce development, infectious diseases, surveillance and informatics, and/or non-infectious diseases. 

Day-to-day work may include scheduling and participating in conference calls, taking notes, attending meetings or webinars, communicating with CSTE members and staff, literature reviews, data analysis, report writing, administrative tasks, meeting planning, and other duties as assigned.

PLEASE NOTE:  Internship projects are not thesis eligible.    

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

 

  • Support development of online trainings for CSTE Staff
  • Pilot training materials prior to publication. Topics could include epidemiology, leadership, project management, health equity, teamwork, or facilitation
  • Document training development workflows and processes
  • Support the administration of the learning management system at learn.cste.org
  • Support continuing education accreditation application development for CSTE trainings and meetings
  • Conduct and summarize evaluation activities for supported projects
  • Support CSTE webinars and training activities (virtual and in-person) 
  • Support CSTE workforce development programs, including assisting with recruiting and application processes
  • Participating in and scheduling conference calls, taking notes, attending meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications and Employment Requirements:

 

Education/Experience: 

Current graduate student in public health or a related field. 

 

Knowledge: 

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, staff, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management, staff, and/or public groups. 

 

Skillset: 

Strong PC skills with proficiency in E-mail, Excel, Word, database management, and Internet. Must be detailed oriented and organized. Must be able to work with limited supervision and on many different projects at one time. Ability to meet tight deadlines with quality work. 

 

CSTE’s pay structure is establish by grade with each position placed in a grade based on the level of difficulty, duties and responsibilities, knowledge and skill requirements, education and training, and qualifications. A new employee is usually hired at the minimum of the grade but commensurate with related job experience. 

 

Salary grade range: $15.00 per hour

Anticipated hiring range: $15.00 per hour

 

Eligibility for telework or remote work:     

  • Position based in Atlanta, GA and eligible for hybrid telework
