Fundraising: Individual Donors, Endowments, Major Gifts and Gift Planning

Position Details:

WITNESS is looking to build a strong fundraising team to help it in its efforts to build individual donors, major gifts donors, gift planning, and an endowment. You must have some experience in aspects of this work to apply.

Two of the most important qualities are interpersonal skills and being comfortable calling and cold-calling individuals. Interns will be expected to help build an individual donor database as well as develop long term relationships between WITNESS and its key constituencies, which would result in substantial and prolonged financial support for WITNESS.

Team members work with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to manage drafting gift proposals, acknowledgement letters and other correspondence on behalf of senior administration, handle gift acceptance documentation, and other donor-related documentation as needed.

Team members must have great interpersonal skills, determination, perseverance, resilience, and a commitment to WITNESS' cause. We are also looking for applicants who are proficient in research in order to compile information about donors in-depth. The ideal applicant is adaptable and a hard worker.

Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes:

  • Identify prospects and secure annual gifts from individuals
  • Solicit and build a portfolio
  • Gift planning/"Planned giving"
  • Cultivate and recruit a diverse donor community.
  • Create monthly reports of personal contacts and progress
